In addition to English, Fred Maggiolo Muhletaler, MD, FACS, speaks several languages, including German, Spanish, and French. He attended Cayetano Heredia University in Peru and received his medical degree in 2003. As a medical student he did rotations at the Vattikuti Urology Institute (VUI), Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. At the time (2002), he was probably the first medical student in the world to have second assisted a robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy. Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Muhletaler conducted his general surgery internship (2008-2009) and urology residency (2009-2013) at Henry Ford Hospital. He then went to the Vattikuti Urology Institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, to complete his fellowship focused on oncologic urologic robotic surgery, minimally invasive urologic surgery, and robotic renal transplant (2013-2015). Dr. Muhletaler received board certification in urology from the American Board of Urology. Dr. Muhletaler is a member of the American Urological Association and attained the status of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Prior to medical school, he attended Colegio Alexander von Humboldt in Lima, Peru, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Muhletaler enjoys playing tennis, listening to classical music, and going to the opera.
